It’s amazing how small Melbourne is. I went jamming yesterday at a sound studio with the rest of the guys. Clint picked me up and we were rather late, but yea, couldn’t be helped. Reached the place and the rest of them were already there. The new guitarist was there too! Yay! His name’s Ben, and when I introduced myself, he told me his wife’s name is Evelyn too. Heh.
But yea, he was pretty friendly and all. Not as good a guitarist as Clint though, but still pretty good. He was picking things up rather quickly, that’s always a plus. We’re asking him to come back again next Thursday, and then Simon will give him the thorough walk-through examination. Hehe. Poor Simon. You can tell he’s not having lots of fun doing all the “admin” stuff, and that he just wants to concentrate on the music. Ah well. It needs to be done, so yea.
We did a couple of songs we were working on, and then worked on more. Then, Adem (drummer) and Ben had to leave because they got “the call”. As in from their wives, asking them where they are and blah blah blah. Heh. So, while they were packing their stuff and bringing it to their cars, the door to our room was left open. And I was just sitting on a chair with the door to my right. Was chatting with Simon and Adem who was standing by the door, and then, I saw this very familiar figure walk past.
I was quite certain it was Sleep Parade’s singer Leigh, but I was way too shocked and by the time I decided to call out, it was too late. Meh. So, I just went back to my business, and then James, Sleep Parade’s bassist, walked by. Again, I wasn’t too sure because James looks like your typical brown/black-haired guy. And yea, I haven’t really gotten a good look at him, to tell the truth. Hm. So I let it slip yet again.
And then Dan walked by. Now, Dan was different from the other two. He stared straight into the room, and straight at me. Even though we’d said hi briefly before at The Evelyn Hotel at one of their gigs, he didn’t recognise me. And by the time I got over the shock that it was Sleep Parade, he had gone. ARGH! I had half-raised my hand and was ready to shout out, but he disappeared past the door frame. Oh well.
I’m so slow. Yes, I am. But yea, it was quite a shock that they rehearse at the same studio as us. Hah! Maybe I’ll see them there again! Woo! I messaged Leigh on OzProg that I saw them that night, but he has yet to reply. Oh well.
So that was last night. Had a pretty easy day today. Went to a couple of opshops today to look for a winter coat, but turned up with nothing. Marion and Elizabeth were with me, so that was fun. Heh. Marion kept talking about her back and showing us how it cracked. Disgusting, girl, disgusting! No one wants to hear it crack, m’dear. Hehe.
Man… I just realised that if we jam next Thursday, I’ll have to miss it because of my Cog gig. Fuck. I want to jam, damnit! Thankfully the studio’s booked out next Thursday, so hopefully we’ll be able to do Wednesday night. Man, I’m going to be so smashed by Sunday. I’ve got like 3 gigs, Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. And if we’re jamming Wednesday night, that’ll be 4 late nights in a row. Wish me luck. Heh.
Haven’t been able to go to work the past 3 sessions. Urgh. There goes my pay. Grmbl.
